The Links at Bowen Lake Golf Course is an upscale public golf course that has bentgrass fairways, tees and greens. The course opened with 18 holes in the spring of 1999. Each golf hole was designed with four to five sets of tees, which accommodate a variety of challenges for golfers of every skill level.
The Golf Course site consists of approximately 170 acres and surrounds the 30-acre Bowen Lake. Part of Bowen Lake is comprised of wetlands, which add dramatic character to the golf course. The remainder of the site consists of rolling meadows, forest and the subtle contouring of greens and dramatic shapes of bunkers with white sand. The clubhouse is sited at the top of a hill overlooking the practice green and #10.
William Newcomb & Associates designed and constructed the golf course. Newcomb's firm is nationally recognized in the golfing industry with several well known courses that have won design awards throughout Michigan and has constructed and managed projects in San Francisco, CA and Anchorage, Alaska.
The Links plays as a par 71 and has been rated by the GAM (Golf Association of Michigan). This GAM rating showed a course rating/slope range of 72.8/131 at the back tees to 69.9/120 at the front tees.
